What They Reveal

During records review, a school liability expert looks beyond the incident itself and examines whether the report was complete, prepared promptly, and consistent with other documentation.

An incident report review might show whether the school’s response met the applicable standards of care.

School Investigation Records

Schools are expected to conduct and document investigations after a significant incident or allegation. 

Records may include interview summaries, witness statements, investigator notes, evidence logs, final investigation reports, findings, and recommendations.

Title IX Investigation Records

Federally funded schools are subject to legally binding Title IX investigation requirements set by the U.S. Department of Education.
